WHS FOR SUPERVISORS AND MANAGERS


Overview

The WHS for Supervisors and Managers course provides a clear and practical introduction to the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022.

Designed specifically for the building and construction industry, the course helps supervisors, site managers and leading hands understand their roles, responsibilities and duties under Western Australia’s current WHS laws.

Participants will explore the key elements of the Construction Work Code of Practice (2022) and the How to Manage Work Health and Safety Risks Code of Practice (2022), supported by discussion on Human and Organisational Factors (HOF) that influence safety leadership, communication and decision-making on site.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, participants will have an improved understanding of:

  • The structure and intent of the WHS Act 2020 (WA) and WHS (General) Regulations 2022
  • The duties of PCBUs, officers, and workers, and how these apply in the construction industry
  • The concepts of hazard identification, risk management, and “reasonably practicable” approaches to controlling risk
  • Consultation, cooperation, and coordination requirements between duty holders
  • The relevance and application of approved Codes of Practice to daily site supervision
  • How Human and Organisational Factors affect supervision, communication, decision-making and overall safety performance

Course Structure

This one-day interactive course is delivered face-to-face by experienced industry trainers and includes discussion, practical examples, and group exercises tailored to the building and construction industry.

It is designed to build confidence in interpreting WHS requirements and engaging in effective supervision, consultation, and communication about safety on site.

Certification

Participants who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion acknowledging their participation in WHS awareness training for supervisors and managers under the WHS Act 2020 (WA).
