Build your future with FutureBuild Academy
Over the past five years to 2025, the building and construction industry has seen trades apprentice completions plummet. Currently, they sit at a dismal 56%. Such a high withdrawal rate hurts the job prospects of young people, creates hesitancy from employers to engage in the apprenticeship system, and is a waste of taxpayer’s money. Improving completion rates of trades apprentices is one of the most cost-effective ways of expanding capacity in the building and construction workforce across Western Australia.
The Master Builders advantage
Through our strong network of members across Western Australia, Master Builders WA is uniquely placed to deliver a group training program in the building and construction industry, to the benefit of both host employers and apprentices.
Across the nation, state and territory Master Builders associations cumulatively employ well over 1000 trades apprentices and achieve apprenticeship completion rates above 80 per cent. This is thanks to a market-leading program that reduces the number of apprentices to each field officer, allowing for enhanced pastoral care and support for both apprentices and host employers.
Why choose to build your future with FutureBuild Academy?
It’s simple.
1. Our primary obligation is to the industry. We’ve represented the interests of the building and construction industry in WA for more than 125 years, and we don’t answer to shareholders – we work for our members. We offer apprentices access to industry-leading training, peer-to-peer mentoring and HR services to ensure they have the support to succeed in their training and better prepare them to be successful in their future business endeavours.
2. We have the network to keep apprentices employed. Our network of builders is the largest in the state giving us the unique ability to move apprentices to find alternate hosts in the event a host employer is not long able to provide work for the apprentice. We keep apprentices in the industry better than anyone else.
3. We build more experienced, resilient apprentices. Another benefit to our wide member network is that we can offer apprentices experience across all types of construction projects – from boutique residential builds, all the way through to medium- and large-scale commercial and civil construction projects. Through exposure to multiple sectors, Master Builders apprentices begin their post-apprenticeship careers with a deeper understanding of the industry and broader project knowledge.
4. We’re in it for the long haul. As a leading provider of vocational industry training, we are able to provide guidance on post-apprenticeship career pathways, from the Diploma of Building and Construction, to builders licensing registration assistance and training that will best prepare graduates to create and run their own successful business.

Frequently Asked Questions

A GTO undertakes all of the employer responsibilities for the quality and continuity of the apprentices’ and trainees’ employment and training. The GTO also manages the additional care and support necessary to achieve the successful completion of the training contract, such as pastoral care and training outside of the training contract.
