  4. Free Plumbing Industry Information Sessions

    WA plumbers and gasfitters are invited to attend a free industry information session, hosted by the Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association (MPGA) of WA. It will include presentations from the Building Commission. Click here to attend. 

  5. LandCorp Graduate Program

    LandCorp is seeking two recent graduates (from 2016 or 2017) for its 2018 program. Applications must be made via Seek and close at 5pm, Wednesday, November 1. The program’s challenging and exciting rotation schedule exposes graduates to all facets of our land and infrastructure development. They will be supported by a dedicated mentor while working with, and learning from, a number of industry and project delivery specialists.

  9. Proactive training ideas

    Master Builders met with North Metropolitan TAFE at its Joondalup Campus this week to explore how we can assist each other in delivering relevant training courses for members.

  10. $10,000 grant funding to boost workplace health initiatives

    Healthier Workplace WA is offering up to ten $1000 grants to support local small businesses to develop and implement workplace health and wellbeing programs. The grants are designed to provide support to small businesses in WA and promote some simple, cost-effective ways to encourage healthy behaviours at work.   11. Economic update

    The Bankwest-Curtin Economics Centre reports that WA shed more than 8,000 jobs and employment fell by 5.7% over the past year in the building and construction industry. Industry wages grew by 1.8% in 2016-17. WA’s unemployment rate remained at 5.5%, which is below the national average of 5.6% and below Queensland and Victoria, which are 6% and 6.1% respectively. The figures are interesting, considering both Queensland and Victoria are reportedly doing much better than WA economically.

  12. International Builders Show – USA

    Next year’s International Builders Show, hosted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), will be held in Orlando (USA) from January 9-11. This is the largest light construction show in the world. Click here for more information.

     

  13. Andy Peppercorn Safety Award

    Judging for the inaugural Andy Peppercorn Safety Award is taking place today, with six individuals being interviewed. The successful nominee will be announced on December 12.
