Concrete standards
AS 3600:2018 sets out the minimum requirements for the design and construction of building structures that contain reinforcing steel or tendons or both. Among the key updates for this revised edition is the inclusion of concrete performance during an earthquake. New and amended standards have been developed for referencing in the next edition of the NCC that will be adopted in May 2019. Click here.

Register of company directors
The Morrison Government has released draft legislation to establish a register of company directors to combat illegal phoenix activity. To be administered by ASIC, it is proposed that all company directors will have a director identification number to monitor their history and improve commercial conduct.

New MyLeave Board
The new Construction Industry Long Service Payments Board meets tomorrow. Michael McLean is our representative. The Board delivered a fully funded balance sheet with an accounting ratio of 148 per cent (assets/liabilities) in 2017-18 which will hopefully lead to a reduction in the 1.2 per cent levy.
