Workers’ compensation laws will be amended from 1 July, increasing payouts to the dependents of workers who have died as a result of workplace accidents.

ABCC Appeal
The Federal Court upheld an ABCC appeal confirming union officials seeking entry to a construction site are exercising a right under the Fair Work Act. That finding, which seems logical, displaced a prior court decision agreeing with the CFMEU, that if a union official entering a work site did rely on the FWAct, the official was not bound by the Act. Little wonder the ABCC appeal succeeded, given such a bizarre background.
