Dear Senator,

The building and construction industry needs a strong ‘cop on the beat’ to ensure builders and their employees are guaranteed a safe and productive work environment.

Australian builders, workers and their families cannot afford to return to the bad old days where intimidation, assaults and stand-over tactics made the construction industry one of the worst in the country.

Unfortunately, the Federal Government’s ABCC Reform Bill delivers just that by weakening the industry watchdog and by slashing the penalty provisions for illegal behaviour. Rather than working to stamp out bad industry conduct, the Government is rewarding it.

You have the power to ensure that we do not take a backwards step in terms of productivity, safety and workplace culture.

I urge you to do the right thing by voting against this flawed Bill in the Australian Senate.

The future of the construction industry depends on it.

Yours sincerely
